Savonet Museum Curacao
The Savonet Museum is a unique concept in the heart of the Christoffel Park. The largest nature reserve on the island is home to the buildings of the former Savonet plantation, including the formal mansion called “country house”. The museum opened thanks to funding from the Dutch government through the SEI program.
The museum gives visitors insider information and a glimpse into the lives of the area's former inhabitants, beginning with the first Arowak Indians who came to the island nearly 4,000 years ago and continuing through modern history. Modern audiovisual concepts, historical artifacts, faces of descendants of former slaves, photographs, fully restored antiques and much more give the museum the tools to tell a diverse story about the interdependence between man and nature, cultural history and natural history.
