Day of Curaçao
The city comes alive especially in the evening, but there are also various events in Willemstad during the day. During the day, local bands and street musicians provide musical entertainment on the streets. There are also stalls where you can enjoy culinary delicacies, drinks, jewelry and other nice trinkets. On Wilhelminaplein there is even a small fair for the youngest, including a bouncy castle, merry-go-round and trampoline. The terraces around Wilhelminaplein are busy, while the afternoon is spent preparing for the evening parties. Stages are being set up and sound equipment is being installed.
When night falls, around 6 p.m., the city really comes alive. It may take some time to find a parking space, but once it is found, the party can begin. In Punda, street musicians fill the streets with music, surrounded by enthusiastic audiences. Small bars line the streets where you can sample mixed drinks and local delicacies as you move through the partying crowds. Wilhelminaplein houses the largest music stage, with shows that combine fire, dance and music. If you walk from Wilhelminaplein across the Pontjes Bridge to the other side, you will discover another impressive stage where local speakers give a speech in honor of Independence Day. The party atmosphere remains high all evening. If you are in Curaçao on this day, a visit to Willemstad should definitely not be missed!
