Just got your diving license (or planning to get it) and no idea where you can go diving? There are a lot of dive sites on Curaçao that you can choose from. Not all locations are suitable for novice divers. It is important to always check in advance whether the dive is within your limits. Fortunately, from the many dive sites there are plenty to choose from for diving on Curaçao for beginners! The advantage of diving on Curaçao is that the waves are generally not that strong and that you can often enter the water from the beach. This way you can start your dive relaxed.

Where to dive as a beginner?
If you are still a novice diver, it can be nice to take an instructor / extra supervisor with you on your first few dives after obtaining your certification if your buddy is also a novice diver. This way you can easily orient yourself in the new diving area. These are some nice places to go as a novice diver
The dive site at Marie Pompoen is ideal for beginners. You start the dive in a calm part of the sea surrounded by stones. This way you can easily put on your flippers and get ready for the dive. If you dive further you will come to a 'junkyard' that is completely overgrown with coral.
A nice place to dive as a novice diver is at Tugboat Beach. This is an old tugboat that has been on the bottom for 30 years. It is very interesting to admire the ship up close. The area around it is also very nice for diving.
One of the most beautiful diving locations of Curaçao is Playa Porto Mari, also known as 'The Valley'. And this dive site is also suitable for novice divers! There is a double reef where you can dive in between. You can choose whether you dive back to the left or to the right. Both sides are equally beautiful and so people often come back to see the other side as well.
Another well-known diving spot for beginners is Playa Lagun. This is also a nice place for snorkeling. In the quiet lagoon surrounded by high cliffs, the water is not only beautiful above water, but also underwater. Turtles are often spotted here and there is something to see on all sides.

Get a diving certificate
No diving license yet? This is no problem! With its many diving schools and various diving locations, Curaçao is the perfect place to get your diving certificate. The sea has a warm temperature all year round and there is plenty to do in the underwater world. Not sure if you like diving yet? Try one of the many on offer introduction to diving!
With an introductory dive you can get acquainted with the diving equipment and what life is like underwater. The advantage of an introductory dive is that it counts as the first lesson of your diving license at most diving schools.
